Melbourne-based · Strategy and implementation

Marketing consultant in Melbourne for service businesses.

I help service-business owners work out where marketing is losing useful enquiries, choose the first repair and put the agreed plan into action. I am based in Melbourne, can visit local offices or sites when it helps, and deliver digital work across Australia. You work directly with me from diagnosis through implementation.

01 / The decision board

I find the constraint before I prescribe the channel.

A business can have enough traffic and still lose the job on the page or at the phone. This is the five-part path I inspect before recommending more marketing spend.

01

Demand

Are enough suitable customers seeing you?

What I checkI look at how customers search, which services and areas matter, current channels, budget and whether there is enough demand to support the plan.

Possible decisionChoose a demand channel, narrow the market or fix the offer before spending more.

02

Message

Do people understand why you fit the job?

What I checkI compare what customers need with the promise on your website, ads, Business Profile and sales material. Generic claims usually hide the useful detail.

Possible decisionClarify the service, area, proof and reason to choose you before adding more traffic.

03

Conversion

Can a ready buyer take the next step?

What I checkI follow the path from a search or ad to the page, call button and form. I look for missing answers, weak proof, friction and unclear calls to action.

Possible decisionRepair the page or enquiry path so current demand has a fair chance to convert.

04

Response

What happens after the phone rings?

What I checkI ask who answers, how quickly forms are handled, what happens after a missed call and how quotes are followed up.

Possible decisionFix response and follow-up before paying to create leads the business cannot handle.

05

Evidence

Can we tell a useful enquiry from activity?

What I checkI check the tracking, lead definitions and feedback loop. A form submission is not automatically qualified, booked, completed or paid work.

Possible decisionCreate a measurement chain the team can maintain, then use it to set the next priority.

02 / A useful exchange

Good advice needs business context. Good implementation needs a clear owner.

I do not expect perfect reporting before we speak, but I do need honest inputs. If a number is unknown, we label it unknown. If the team cannot provide booking feedback, I can still measure calls and forms, but I will not present those actions as paid jobs.

What I need from you

  • The services and locations you want more work from
  • What a worthwhile enquiry and job look like
  • Current marketing costs, access and recent reports
  • How calls, forms, bookings and sales are handled
  • What the team can realistically implement and maintain

What you get from me

  • A plain-English diagnosis of the first constraint
  • An ordered list of what to keep, stop, repair or test
  • A practical scope with owners, dependencies and timing
  • A measurement plan for calls, forms and lead quality
  • Direct implementation where the agreed work fits my services

03 / How I work

The strategy becomes useful when somebody owns the next action.

I can be the person who identifies the problem and the person who carries out the agreed digital work. That removes the gap between a presentation and the real account, page or workflow. It does not mean every business needs every service.

01 / CONTEXT

I learn how the business makes money.

We define the services, locations, capacity, sales process and job economics before discussing channels.

02 / TRACE

I follow the current customer path.

I review how people discover you, what they see, how they enquire and what happens after the enquiry reaches the team.

03 / PRIORITISE

I choose the first repair.

I explain the evidence, the trade-offs and why one change should happen before another. The plan has an order, not a shopping list.

04 / IMPLEMENT

I do the agreed work directly.

That may include SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads, website changes, content or automation. If a specialist outside my scope is needed, I say so.

05 / REVIEW

I compare activity with useful enquiries.

We use the best available feedback to decide what to keep, change or stop. If the evidence is incomplete, I make that limitation visible.

If the first problem is demand, my lead-generation system explains how I choose and connect acquisition channels. For a channel-specific scope, see Google Ads management or Local SEO. The service hub shows the full set of work I can provide.

04 / Choosing the model

Consultant, agency or in-house hire?

None is automatically better. The right choice depends on how much senior attention, production capacity and daily availability the business needs.

ModelUseful whenCheck before hiring
Direct consultantYou want senior diagnosis, a clear priority and hands-on help without several layers.Which work is done personally, what is outside scope and how availability is handled.
AgencyYou need several specialists, high production volume or parallel campaigns.Who manages the account day to day, how many accounts they handle and who owns the assets.
In-house hireYou need marketing attention every working day and can support a permanent role.Whether one hire covers the required skills and who sets direction and reviews performance.

With me, the person on the first call is the person doing the diagnosis and agreed work. Direct access still has normal boundaries. I may be in a client meeting, on site or concentrating on delivery when you call, but you know who owns the decision and you get the answer from me.

05 / Local where it helps

I am based in Tarneit and can meet across Melbourne.

For a Melbourne business, I can visit the office, clinic, workshop or service site when it will improve the work. That may mean listening to how calls are answered, learning how the team explains a service, seeing what customers are being asked to trust or capturing useful content.

I travel to suitable clients across Melbourne, including the south-east, by arrangement. I do not claim an office there. Digital consulting, SEO, paid media, websites and automation are also available remotely to suitable service businesses across Australia.

06 / Experience and limits

Five years helping local businesses has made me careful about what the numbers prove.

I have learned that a strong channel cannot rescue a weak handoff. Search terms, landing pages, call response, booking feedback and commercial fit affect the same outcome. My ongoing work starts from A$800 per month, with the final scope explained before work begins.

07 / Fit

I am most useful when you want a decision, not another list of tactics.

Good fit

  • You run an established service business
  • Marketing is active but the priority is unclear
  • You can share honest lead and sales context
  • You want direct strategy and practical implementation

Not the right fit

  • You want a guaranteed ranking, lead count or revenue result
  • Nobody can answer or follow up enquiries
  • You need a large full-service production team
  • You want activity reports without business feedback

08 / Real buyer questions

Questions people ask before hiring a marketing consultant.

What does a marketing consultant do?
A marketing consultant should help a business understand the problem, choose priorities and turn those decisions into a workable plan. My role goes further than advice alone. I trace how customers find you, what they see, how they enquire and what happens next. Where the agreed work fits my services, I implement it directly and review the evidence with you.
What is the difference between a marketing consultant and a digital marketing agency?
A consultant can give you direct access to the person diagnosing the problem and setting the priorities. An agency may offer a larger team and more production capacity, but the person who sells the work may not be the person doing it. With me, you speak with the person reviewing the business and implementing the agreed work. If you need a large team or a discipline I do not provide, I will tell you.
How much does a marketing consultant in Melbourne cost?
My ongoing work starts from A$800 per month. The final scope depends on the problem, the channels involved, the condition of the website and tracking, and how much implementation is needed. Advertising spend and third-party tools are separate. I explain the proposed work and cost before you approve it rather than applying one package to every business.
Do I need a Melbourne-based marketing consultant?
Not for every digital task. SEO, paid media, websites and automation can be delivered remotely. A Melbourne-based consultant can be useful when seeing the office, clinic, workshop, site or call process will improve the diagnosis or content. I am based in Tarneit, travel across Melbourne by arrangement and work remotely with suitable service businesses across Australia.
Can you help with implementation as well as strategy?
Yes. I can implement agreed work across SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads, websites, content and selected automation. I do not pretend to be every specialist. If the plan needs legal advice, complex brand research, enterprise development or another capability outside my scope, I will identify that dependency instead of hiding it in a vague retainer.
What should I prepare before speaking with a marketing consultant?
Start with your website, main service, service area, current marketing activity and the problem you are trying to solve. If available, bring recent lead numbers, advertising costs, sales or booking feedback and access to the accounts that need reviewing. Perfect data is not required. I just need to know which facts are confirmed and which are assumptions.
Who owns the marketing accounts, website and data?
Your business should own its domain, website, advertising accounts, analytics and campaign history. I ask for appropriate access to do the agreed work, but I do not need to own those assets. If our engagement ends, your accounts and data stay with you.
How will we know whether the work is producing useful leads?
I separate recorded actions from commercial outcomes. A call or form is a recorded lead. Your team may then mark whether it was relevant, qualified or booked. Completed and paid work need business records, not a marketing-platform assumption. The more consistently the team supplies that feedback, the better the next decision can be.

09 / Start with context

Send me the website and tell me where you think the next job is being lost.

Include the main service, the area you genuinely cover, what marketing is running now and what you want to change. You do not need to diagnose the problem before contacting me. That is part of the work.
