Melbourne Marketing Brief / #011 / NEWS & ANALYSIS
AI Max reporting and two deadlines for connected business tools
Published by Ajay Dabhi · · AI-assisted research and writing
24 September 2026 · News and analysis · Announcements dated 23 September
Google has announced a clearer view of the journey from a search to an ad and landing page. Two other updates deserve a deadline in the diary: access to email attachments and the way custom phone systems retrieve conference records. Here is what is worth checking before changing a working system.
The four announcements below were published on 23 September and checked on 24 September, Melbourne time. Google has not yet supplied full availability details for its new report. The attachment change is in Labs, while Twilio’s change takes effect on 30 September.
Growthcenter uses the underlying HighLevel platform. Its announcements establish what that platform documents; access and configuration in an individual Growthcenter account have not been verified. The examples and recommendations are analysis, not results from client tests.
WATCH AVAILABILITY
1. Google announces a view from search term to landing page
Confirmed announcement · Reporting availability details pending · AI Brief remains closed beta
What changed
Google says a new Google Ads report will bring together the search term that triggered an ad, the creative assets shown and the website destination. Its 23 September announcement says further details and availability will follow later this year. It does not establish that the report is available to Australian advertisers today.
Separately, Google is expanding the closed beta of AI Brief to Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. AI Brief lets advertisers provide business, audience and messaging context to AI Max. This language expansion is not a general-release announcement.
Published 23 September 2026. Source checked 24 September 2026.
Who this affects
Owners and marketers using, or evaluating, AI Max in Search campaigns. Businesses that do not use Google Ads can ignore this update. English-language advertisers should not assume the beta language expansion changes their eligibility.
Our analysis: what it means for your business
The useful question is whether the customer saw a relevant promise and reached a page that could fulfil it. My recommendation is to use the eventual report to investigate that connection, then compare it with qualified enquiry and booking records. The report alone will not establish whether a lead became a customer.
Hypothetical example: a cleaning company receives an end-of-lease enquiry but the visitor landed on a general home-cleaning page. Seeing the search, creative and destination together could help diagnose the mismatch. This is a possible use of the announced report, not an account test or a promised improvement.
What to do next
- Ask the account manager to watch for confirmed availability and document when the report actually appears.
- Keep service promises, geographical limits and landing-page content consistent now. That work does not depend on a new report.
- Do not change bidding or switch on AI Max solely to obtain a feature whose availability is still pending.
CHECK BY 30 NOVEMBER
2. Email attachment integrations have a November deadline
Confirmed · Labs feature · New access controls scheduled for 30 November 2026
What changed
The platform behind Growthcenter says applications retrieving conversation attachments outside the platform will need an additional file-access permission and authenticated access. The first phase concerns email conversation attachments; other channels and file-based custom fields are described as future phases.
The announcement says existing attachment links continue only until 30 November 2026. Developers must update affected applications and ask existing users to reauthorise them. It says most users will see no change to their usual experience, and applications that do not access attachments need no action.
Published 23 September 2026. Source checked 24 September 2026.
Who this affects
Businesses whose custom software, marketplace app or automation downloads email attachments from Growthcenter conversations. Staff who read attachments only inside the normal interface may not need to change their routine; the integration owner should confirm the actual setup.
Our analysis: what it means for your business
A form or email can arrive successfully while a later step fails to retrieve the attached document. A workflow should make that difference visible instead of marking the entire enquiry complete.
Hypothetical example: a maintenance business receives a property photo by email, then an automation copies it to a job folder. The developer needs to verify authenticated retrieval and permissions before the link format changes. No failure in a real business is claimed here.
What to do next
- List the integrations that read email conversation attachments and give each one an accountable maintainer.
- Ask the maintainer to confirm the required permission, reauthorisation process and a test using non-sensitive files before 30 November.
- Test an allowed download, a denied download and the staff notification when retrieval fails. Keep credentials out of messages and public URLs.
TEST ONLY WHERE USEFUL
3. New workflow AI models need a small comparison test
Underlying-platform release · Growthcenter account availability unverified
What changed
HighLevel’s 23 September release note adds GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna to the model dropdown for AI Agent and GPT actions in Workflows. This announcement concerns those workflow actions; it does not establish availability in Voice AI receptionists.
The vendor describes Sol for complex work and Luna for faster, high-volume tasks. Its accuracy and cost comparisons are vendor claims, not measurements from an Australian service business. The announcement does not establish that every existing workflow automatically switches models.
Published 23 September 2026. Source checked 24 September 2026.
Who this affects
Teams using an AI workflow step to classify enquiries, prepare summaries or draft replies. If a workflow is working well and no quality, speed or cost problem has been identified, a model change can wait.
Our analysis: what it means for your business
The decision should be based on the job the step performs. A model that writes a fluent summary can still choose the wrong service tag or omit an important exception. My recommendation is to compare the full workflow output with a person’s agreed answer.
Hypothetical example: a plumbing office tests whether a model distinguishes a booking request, an invoice question and an urgent issue requiring a person. Use synthetic cases, including incomplete information, before allowing any customer-facing action. This is a proposed test, not evidence of better performance.
What to do next
- Confirm the model choices and billing actually available in the account. Copy the workflow into a controlled test before changing production.
- Compare correct routing, required output format, handling of missing information, response time and metered cost.
- Keep human approval for consequential actions and a fallback for uncertain classifications. Publish a change only after the test meets the business’s acceptance rules.
ASK THE PHONE-SYSTEM DEVELOPER
4. Custom call reports may need a change before 30 September
Confirmed operational change · Effective 30 September 2026
What changed
Twilio says its Conference list endpoint will default to returning only in-progress conferences from 30 September. Currently, a request without a Status filter can return conferences across init, in-progress and completed states.
Applications retrieving completed conferences will need the Status=completed query parameter. Twilio says retrieving both in-progress and completed conferences will require two separate requests. Applications that only query in-progress conferences need no action.
Published 23 September 2026. Source checked 24 September 2026.
Who this affects
Businesses with custom Twilio conference reporting or integrations that look up completed conferences, potentially including bespoke call-transfer systems. Ordinary phone users can pass this to their provider. A managed Growthcenter setup is not known to be affected merely because it uses phone services.
Our analysis: what it means for your business
An incomplete report can look like missing activity even when calls took place. The priority is to check how the application retrieves records before staff use its totals to make follow-up or staffing decisions. This announcement does not say call history is being deleted or ordinary inbound calls will stop.
Hypothetical example: a custom end-of-day report lists completed conferences to reconcile staff handoffs. Its developer should test the explicit completed filter and make sure a combined report does not duplicate records. The relationship between conferences and actual customer enquiries still needs the application’s own rules.
What to do next
- Ask whether any code calls the Conference list endpoint without an explicit status while expecting completed records.
- Test the completed-record request and, if both states are needed, the two-request merge before 30 September.
- Verify report completeness and failure alerts. Keep a person responsible for reconciling exceptions.
ANALYSIS / BUSINESS CONTEXT
Where to spend your attention today
Deal with dated maintenance first: the Twilio change arrives on 30 September, while attachment integrations have until 30 November according to the current announcements. Neither deadline means every business needs development work; first establish whether the affected dependency exists.
Treat the Google report and workflow models as different decisions. One requires an availability check; the other calls for a bounded comparison if there is a real problem to solve. A platform announcement is not evidence of more enquiries, lower costs or better search rankings.
Practical checks
- Send the relevant announcement to the person maintaining each affected integration and record whether it applies.
- Keep one small test record: what was expected, what happened, who checked it and how to recover a failed step.
- Review enquiries and bookings alongside platform reports. Do not count a click, model response or downloaded attachment as a completed customer outcome.
These checks are recommendations, not additional requirements announced by the platform. The appropriate work depends on your actual configuration.
