Melbourne Marketing Brief / #027 / NEWS & ANALYSIS
New customer-portal tools and an n8n change call for careful handoff checks
Published by Ajay Dabhi · · AI-assisted research and writing
10 October 2026 · NEWS & ANALYSIS · Platform release and stable software update
The platform behind Growthcenter has added a backend for AI Studio apps, opening another route to customer portals. Meanwhile, n8n’s latest stable release restricts older code nodes used in some automations. Both announcements landed on 9 October. The practical question is whether customers can still submit information, see only their own records and get a reliable response after a change.
Sources checked on 10 October in Melbourne. HighLevel is the original source for the Growthcenter platform announcement; access in an individual Growthcenter account has not been verified.
The n8n release is version-specific. We have not inspected or upgraded a customer’s installation. Facts below come from the official announcement, release notes and merged change; examples and recommendations are our analysis.
ASSESS / CUSTOMER PORTALS
1. AI Studio Cloud adds a backend, with boundaries to understand
Announced 9 October 2026 · First-version limitations · Growthcenter account access unverified
What changed
HighLevel says AI Studio Cloud provides a project database, user accounts and file storage. It works with TanStack Start apps; an existing React project must first migrate to an upgraded copy. The original stays live, and migration does not itself enable Cloud.
Initial sign-in supports email and password. Daily database backups cover schema and rows, excluding uploaded files and app code. Restoring replaces the live database and briefly pauses database access.
Sharing or remixing does not copy Cloud data, but the copy can still request the original backend under its access rules. The source also says insufficient wallet funds can pause Cloud without deleting its data. These details require account checks before relying on the service.

Who this affects
Businesses considering an AI Studio customer portal or small operational app, including Growthcenter users with access to the feature. A business with a working brochure website and a simple contact form can safely leave this alone unless there is a clear need for customer accounts or stored uploads.
Our analysis: what it means for your business
Our analysis: a portal can organise information, but adding a login is only the beginning. Decide who owns each record, who may edit it and how the team notices a new request. A customer seeing a successful upload does not establish that a staff member received the job.
Hypothetical example: a Melbourne cleaning company asks customers to upload property photos before quoting. Test with two separate sample customers: each should see only the records and files intended for them. Also check what an unsigned visitor can access. Use dummy files during the test, not real customer photos. This is an example, not a test we performed.
Write a recovery checklist that covers the database, uploaded files and the app version together. If those parts are restored to different points in time, staff may have a request record without its supporting photos, or an app expecting fields that no longer exist. Have the maintainer demonstrate the recovery process in a test environment before accepting it as a dependable fallback.
A copied app also deserves its own access review. Do not assume a preview or remix is isolated from customer data simply because it looks like a separate project. Confirm where its requests go and who can use it. Australian hosting, account eligibility and suitability for sensitive records were not established by this briefing.
What to do next
- Write the customer task first: for example, submit a quote request and receive a clear acknowledgement. Avoid building accounts simply because the tool now supports them.
- Confirm framework, account access, costs, data handling and record/file permissions with the responsible maintainer before a pilot.
- Test separate users, staff notification, failed uploads and recovery with dummy data. Name a person customers can contact when the portal is unavailable.
CHECK / EXISTING AUTOMATIONS
2. n8n restricts older nodes: running and editing are different checks
Stable 2.42.6 released 9 October 2026 · Related 2.43.3 release is prerelease
What changed
n8n’s 2.42.6 release notes include enforcement against deprecated nodes. The merged change identifies Function, Function Item and LangChain Code nodes. It restricts adding or changing them through workflow creation, updates and imports.
The change says unchanged saved workflows containing these nodes directly keep running. However, dynamic sub-workflows loaded from inline JSON, a URL or a file are checked before execution. Chat tools also have checks that can prevent an existing deprecated tool from running.
Deleting an affected node or migrating it to a supported version remains allowed. Restoring an old workflow into a fresh instance can fail the check. The same capability appears in 2.43.3, which the release feed marks as prerelease.

Who this affects
Australian businesses whose staff or automation provider use n8n, especially older custom workflows. This is not a blanket Growthcenter update. If your enquiry process does not use n8n, there is no action from this release. If it does, the installed version and actual nodes determine relevance.
Our analysis: what it means for your business
Our analysis: an automation that ran yesterday may still run after the upgrade, yet resist an edit or fail when restored elsewhere. That distinction matters when someone needs to repair a lead handoff under time pressure. Ask for evidence covering maintenance and recovery, not just one successful scheduled run.
Hypothetical example: a trades business uses n8n to turn a website request into a CRM enquiry and a staff task. Its maintainer should follow the request through to the final record in a separate test environment, then check a representative workflow edit and backup restore. If an AI assistant calls a sub-workflow or chat tool, include that path too. This example does not describe an observed client system.
Keep the test narrow enough to explain the result: what triggered, what data arrived, which record changed and which person was notified. Use a clearly marked sample request so the check cannot be mistaken for a paying customer. A technical success response alone is weaker evidence than seeing the expected enquiry reach its owner.
Do not make disabling the new safeguard the routine fix. The maintenance task is to identify the affected nodes and plan a supported replacement with the provider. Keep a documented fallback for incoming enquiries while that work is tested. This briefing does not establish a failure or compromise in any customer account.
What to do next
- Ask your automation provider to record the installed n8n version and whether any workflows use the three affected node types.
- Before adopting the release, test ordinary execution, relevant AI tool calls, an edit and a restore in an isolated environment with sample data.
- Agree a supported migration and rollback plan with the maintainer. Verify the complete enquiry handoff before considering the change finished.
ANALYSIS / BUSINESS CONTEXT
Where to spend your attention today
These announcements concern different systems. AI Studio Cloud adds a place to store application data; n8n’s change affects how some existing workflows can be maintained and invoked. Neither announcement establishes more leads, lower costs or an Australian account rollout.
The original HighLevel RSS timestamp is 9 October 09:59 UTC. n8n’s stable release was published on 9 October; its linked change was merged on 8 October. Recommendations are original editorial analysis, not a claim of personal testing by Ajay.
Practical checks
- If evaluating a portal, start with separate-user permissions, staff handoff and a recovery plan that includes uploaded files.
- If n8n supports your enquiries, ask the maintainer for a version and deprecated-node inventory before an upgrade.
- Keep a named human fallback for customer requests while either system is being tested.
These checks are recommendations, not additional requirements announced by the platform. The appropriate work depends on your actual configuration.
